Occasional in dry alkaline grassland or on rock outcrops, often with Thyme.

Flower diameter c 2.5-4 mm

ID: Leaves in whorls of about 8-12, yellow flowers.  If no flowers, can be told from other Bedstraws by leaves having downturned margins.

Other features: Stems have no prickles on angles.  Leaves dark green above, pale beneath.

Plant in unripe fruit.  Ripe fruit is black.
