Taxonomic note: This is an aggregate of a large number of apomictic microspecies which are here treated as one.

Common in woods and scrub, and by roadsides.

Flower diameter c 2 cm

ID: Prickles on leaves as well as on stems.  Stem prickles stout, not easily crushable.

Other features: Long stems arch or creep and root at tips.  Flowers can be white or pink.
