Occurs here and there on bare ground. Leaves 2-10 mm long. ID: A very small plant, looking at a distance like a tiny version of Lady's Mantle. Leaves have 3 lobes, themselves divided into 2-5 lobes each. To distinguish from A arvensis, stipule-lobes around the flower are twice as long as broad, the fruit including the sepals is < 2mm and the sepals converge when the fruit is ripe instead of remaining upright. Other features: Flowers in unstalked clusters opposite the leaves, surrounded by leaf-like stipules of 5-7 lobes, 4 sepals, no petals, 1 stamen. |
