Rare, confined to wet flushes high in hills. Plants c 8-20 cm high. Flower diameter c 4-7 mm ID: Stem more or less hairless apart from lines of hairs down the two raised ridges. Leaves rather pale green, about 2-3.5 x as long as wide, narrowing to the base. Can be hard to tell from Chickweed Willowherb but that has dark green leaves rounded at base and flowers 7-12 mm. Marsh Willowherb sometimes has two lines of hairs (without raised ridges), but has much narrower leaves. Other features: Sepals red. Leaves not or hardly toothed. In late summer produces above-ground stolons from base with pairs of small green leaves. |
