Occasional but locally frequent, by burns and flushes in mountains, sometimes continuing downstream to lower altitudes. Plants c 10-25 cm high. Flower diameter c 7-12 mm ID: Stem more or less hairless apart from lines of hairs down the two raised ridges. Leaves darkish green, with a bluish tinge, not pale like Alpine Willowherb. Leaves about 1.5-2 x as long as wide, rounded to the base. Other features: Leaves distantly sinuate-toothed, the toothing more emphatic than the faint toothing sometimes visible in Alpine W. Sepals often dark red. Flowers somewhat nodding in bud. Spreads by below-ground stolons with pairs of yellowish scales in place of leaves. |
