Rare in rock crevices and shady ravines, usually on limestone. Sepals c 2.5-3.5 cm long ID: Unmistakable, see pic opposite. Other features: Leaves in a whorl of 4 near the top of the stem, no other leaves on stem. Flower consists of 4 narrow sepals, 4 even narrower green petals and 8 long narrow stamens. All these numbers can vary. A black berry develops in the centre. |
