Locally frequent on the shore Flower diameter c 8-13 mm ID: Leaves fleshy, semi-cylindrical. Almost all seeds in any given capsule have a broad winged border. Petals normally longer than sepals (but this is a dodgy character with Skye sea-spurreys). 10 stamens in most flowers. Other features: Lesser Sea Spurrey has similar leaves, but has flowers < 9 mm, petals normally shorter than sepals, 8 stamens or less, and few if any winged seeds in each capsule. Sand and Corn Spurreys have totally different leaves. |
