Common in bogs and wet moorland flushes, also beside burns and in ditches. Flower diameter c 4-9 mm ID: Hairs on calyx appressed, not spreading or hooked. Petals slightly notched at tip. Ripe fruit has stalks 2.5-5 x as long as calyx (look at lowest ones in spike). Stem has spreading hairs below, appressed ones above. Calyx teeth about half length of calyx when flowering, each tooth forming a triangle with base shorter than other two sides. Other features: Sterile creeping stems arise from base and root at nodes. |
