Fairly frequent on mortared stone walls (pic below) and natural limestone rocks (pic on left) Pinna at tip of stem c 5 mm long. Skye ID: Pinnae no more than c 5 on each side, yet lowest is itself pinnate, with up to 5 segments. Overall shape of each frond is triangular, with pinnae quickly decreasing in complexity as you move towards the top. Other features: Shape of segments very variable but each is toothed above the middle. |
